Lyrebird Health, an AI-powered medical transcription startup, has raised US$12 million in new funding, bringing its valuation to US$50 million. The funding round was led by Five V Capital and Octopus Ventures, with participation from Startmate, where the company began its journey in 2023.
Founded just two years ago, Lyrebird Health has built an automated clinical documentation platform that listens to doctor-patient conversations and generates consultation notes in real-time. Designed to relieve the administrative burden on healthcare professionals, the platform is already handling 30,000 consultations daily and saw over 600,000 consultations processed in May alone, with 10% month-on-month growth.
Helping Doctors Spend Less Time on Paperwork
Clinical documentation—the detailed records healthcare providers must maintain after every patient visit—can take over two hours a day, significantly cutting into time available for patient care. Lyrebird Health’s AI medical scribe aims to change that.
“Healthcare professionals are overwhelmed with administrative tasks,” said Kai Van Lieshout, Lyrebird’s CEO and co-founder. “Our solution saves clinicians 6–8 minutes per consultation, which directly translates to more patient time and better care.”
At Gold Coast Hospital, where the platform is already in use, results have been promising:
- 22% increase in patient throughput
- 84% of staff reported improved efficiency
- 79% said consultation quality improved
- 68% of patients felt doctors spent more time directly interacting with them
Global Vision, Local Impact
With fresh funding in place, Lyrebird is set to enhance its Electronic Medical Record (EMR) integrations, expand into the UK and Middle East markets, and further advance its AI-driven platform and product experience. As part of the funding round, Chris Gillings from Five V Capital will join Lyrebird’s board, expressing strong belief in the company’s mission to relieve doctors from administrative burdens. Uthish Ranjan, Partner at Octopus Ventures, echoed this confidence, citing Lyrebird’s early traction in the UK as a promising sign of its potential to scale globally.
Lyrebird Health Is Redefining the Future of Healthcare Admin
As AI continues to transform healthcare, Lyrebird Health is emerging as a key player in reducing documentation fatigue and enhancing patient care. With thousands of clinicians already benefiting and international expansion underway, the startup is on track to become a global leader in AI-driven clinical efficiency.
From a student hackathon to a $50M valuation, Lyrebird Health’s rise highlights the power of AI to address real-world problems—and the critical need to support the people who care for others.
