Kyndryl, the world’s largest IT infrastructure services provider, has launched a new ASEAN AI Innovation Lab in Singapore to deliver enterprise-ready, secure, and responsible AI solutions across Southeast Asia.
The lab will house 50 AI experts and serve as a regional hub for AI-driven transformation in sectors such as logistics, hospitality, and employment services.
The launch builds on Kyndryl’s ongoing global investment strategy in AI talent and infrastructure, following similar initiatives in the UK and France.
Google Cloud and DISG Join Forces with Kyndryl
Kyndryl is collaborating with Google Cloud and Digital Industry Singapore (DISG) under the Enterprise Compute Initiative (ECI) to fast-track AI adoption through the AI Cloud Takeoff program. This partnership provides access to tools such as Vertex AI, BigQuery, and Agentspace, enabling seamless development and deployment of intelligent applications.
What the AI Innovation Lab Offers
The ASEAN AI Innovation Lab is set to deliver advanced capabilities such as Agentic Risk Intelligence, where AI agents monitor global signals and dynamically reassess risks. It enables real-time ingestion of breach events and contextual firm data, supports predictive modeling for vendor and operational risks, and offers enterprise-ready APIs for seamless integration with GRC, IT risk, and procurement systems.
A key feature is its design-led co-creation model via Kyndryl Vital, allowing businesses to prototype solutions collaboratively. In partnership with Singapore’s top universities and the Digital Industry Singapore (DISG), the lab also focuses on building AI workforce readiness to ensure that enterprise adoption aligns with evolving regulatory, sustainability, and productivity demands.
Real-World Impact Across ASEAN Sectors
The Lab is already driving AI-led transformation across Southeast Asia with impactful real-world applications. Frasers Hospitality collaborated with the Lab to co-develop an AI-powered training tool featuring interactive video content and multilingual support.
In Vietnam, the SuperPort™ project uses AI to automate x-ray image analysis and streamline customs documentation, enhancing efficiency. Meanwhile, gig economy platform Quest has integrated AI to improve job-talent matching, significantly increasing fulfillment rates and operational effectiveness.
Bridging the AI Skills Gap in Singapore
Kyndryl’s People Readiness Report 2025 identifies a major challenge for organizations around the world: 95% are investing in AI, yet 71% state their workforce is not prepared to use it. Kyndryl has opened its new AI Innovation Lab in Singapore to help address this challenge by focusing on workforce readiness and aligning business growth and AI strategy.
The Lab will also support Singapore’s vision of becoming a global AI hub by fostering collaboration across the public, private, and academic sectors. According to Philbert Gomez, SVP at DISG, the Lab is expected to act as a “catalyst for innovation, talent skilling, and scalable AI infrastructure” throughout ASEAN.
Conclusion
Kyndryl’s new lab establishes Singapore and the wider ASEAN as a strategic hub for AI-driven business development. With strong partners, a talent pool that is burgeoning, and real-world impact in action, the Lab will be a pillar for the region’s AI future.
