Zoom AI Companion is officially leveling up. In its latest rollout, Zoom introduced a suite of AI-powered tools that signal a major shift from video conferencing software to a fully AI-augmented productivity platform. From smarter scheduling and task management to live voice recording and sales automation, the Zoom AI update aims to completely reshape the modern workplace.
At the heart of the release is the Custom AI Companion, a powerful feature that allows companies to design their own AI agents. Built using Zoom AI Studio, the tool lets IT admins drag and drop low-code elements to create bespoke workflows. It’s a step forward in Zoom’s agentic AI strategy, and is available for $12/month. Zoom also announced future integrations with third-party agents like Anthropic and Google, expected later this summer.
Smarter Workflows With AI Task Manager and Voice Recording
The upgrade doesn’t stop at custom agents. Zoom has integrated a smarter AI task manager directly into its platform. With Zoom Tasks, users can generate to-do lists from meeting summaries and chat threads automatically. The system assigns action items, recommends next steps, and allows everything to be tracked in one central dashboard—or embedded directly into Zoom Docs.
Another standout tool is the AI Voice Recorder, which transcribes and summarizes in-person conversations—even when you’re not on a Zoom call. This mobile-first feature will soon be available across devices, with Zoom Rooms support rolling out later this year.
“Last year, we promised AI-first capabilities with Zoom Workplace. This is us delivering on that—empowering users to do more, faster,” said Jeff Smith, Zoom’s head of Product for Workplace AI, Meetings, and Spaces.
Deep Collaboration Features and Smart Scheduling
Zoom is also enhancing collaboration and communication with more AI features across its suite. Zoom Team Chat now uses a proprietary Small Language Model to improve translation and multilingual messaging. Users can mention others or share content without needing to add new contacts to a chat thread.
The Zoom AI Companion now helps with meeting scheduling by scanning calendars and suggesting optimal times. It can even auto-generate topics and agendas. Inside Zoom Meetings, users can now start private group chats with custom names and shared links, improving how parallel conversations are managed.
Zoom isn’t stopping at desk workers. With Zoom Revenue Accelerator, sales teams gain access to AI playbooks that enforce standard selling frameworks and automatically update CRMs based on call analysis. A new “deal explorer” lets reps ask natural language questions and receive instant insights.
Zoom’s Future Is AI-Augmented
On the healthcare front, Zoom Workplace for Clinicians—developed with Suki—auto-generates clinical notes during patient visits. Meanwhile, Zoom Workplace for Frontline delivers mobile-first tools for workers in retail, manufacturing, and healthcare, all powered by the Zoom AI Companion.
With this update, Zoom has transitioned from a virtual meeting platform into a complete AI workplace ecosystem. Its new AI capabilities do more than assist—they execute, summarize, recommend, and manage. As the platform evolves, Zoom is positioning itself not just as a productivity tool but as the AI sidekick of the modern enterprise.
