Apple’s in-house project, which is called Project ACDC (Apple Chips in Data Center), uses the company’s chip designing experience to improve its server architecture, according to the report.
The company aims to unveil its latest AI solutions and is already putting preparations in place to hold its biggest annual event; the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) which is usually held in June.
Although Project ACDC has been going on for some time, to this day, we have no idea when or if the project will be launched officially. Apple’s server chip is going to be focused on inference tasks which are performed by AI models mainly, instead of training the AI models.
According to the news, the collaboration between the company and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) is so close that the new chips can already be manufactured. Nevertheless, it stands to be agreed whether the mentioned enterprises have attained conclusive outcomes from this collaboration, as stated in the WSJ article.
Apple’s CEO has pointed out the significant investments that the company has made in generative AI and also hinted at the exciting news to be shared later in the event.
