Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus chipset incorporates Qualcomm’s Oryon AI CPU that is custom made to deliver up to 37% better performance of the CPU compared to rivals, but consuming up to 54% less power, the company says.

The chip for PCs that has been AI-directed utilizes Qualcomm Hexagon NPU (45 TOPS NPU), which is specially developed for those applications. It is known to be the fastest NPU for laptops worldwide that can cope with the growing CPU workload / requirements in AI.

As Senior Vice President and General Manager of Compute and Gaming at Qualcomm Technologies, Kedar Kondap stated that the Snapdragon X Series platform is all set to deliver new and innovative user experiences poised to change the PC industry forever. Snapdragon X Plus promises to help AI-enabled PCs to be more accessible to the wider spectrum of users, especially with all the arresting new AI innovations that have been taking place in the realm of rapid development and deployment.

Along with the Snapdragon X Plus, Qualcomm is unveiling twelve-core Snapdragon X Elite processors featuring a 3.8GHz maximum multithreaded frequency and up to 4.6 TFLOP iGPU. In this case, same NPU and compatible memory speed are onboard as in the Snapdragon X Plus. Therefore, the two best processors from the Snapdragon x Elite line come with Dual-Core Boost enabled, leading to improved performance when required, and the clock frequency can go up to 4.2GHz. Qualcomm projects that its Snapdragon X Elite processor will combat competitors like Apple, Intel and AMD as is noted by The Verge.
